Claerwen Holland

Year first exhibited:
1996

Claerwen Holland was born and lives in Radnorshire, Wales. She studied at Byam Shaw School of Art, under the direction of Maurice de Sausmarez, who awarded her the Principal’s prize for landscapes in oils. She passed the National Diploma for Fine Arts and won a David Murray studentship in landscape painting, given by the Royal Academy.

She is primarily a painter of domestic still lifes and landscapes; the kitchen gardens of Wales or sandy beaches of the British coast. She is inspired by the objects which surround her at home in Wales; freshly picked flowers from her garden, china ornaments, old toys and secret boxes.

Claerwen has exhibited in many mixed shows, including the Royal Academy Exhibition and the New English Arts Club, and has had solo exhibitions in England and Wales.

Claerwen Holland has been exhibiting at Thackeray Gallery since 1996.
