Judy Buxton
Judy Buxton was born in 1961. She studied Fine Art at Falmouth College of Art where she gained a first class honours degree. Judy then went on to gain a Masters in Fine Art at the Royal Academy in 1993.
In 1994, Judy moved to Cornwall where she entered fully into the artistic life. Here she was inspired by the beauty of the surrounding land and seascapes, depicting them in a "cool and chalky palette". Judy applies paint to the canvas in wild and vigorous strokes, each one defining something crucial in the composition and balance of the work.
Since moving to Cornwall she has had a succession of solo exhibitions in London, Oxford, Bath, Cambridge and St. Ives, and has been represented in a large number of mixed exhibitions including the prestigious Hunting Art Prize exhibition at the Royal College of Art in 1997, 1998, 2000 and 2002.
Judy Buxton joined Thackeray Gallery in 2008. We are delighted to be holding a solo exhibition of new work by Judy in July 2010.
